SPRING HILL, TN (Feb. 28, 2025) – Jim Mayfield is retiring as President of Ralson Tire North America after a career in the tire industry that spanned more than four decades, it was announced today.
Global tire manufacturer Ralson tabbed Mayfield in 2021 to lead its entry into the US commercial tire market. The company had recently completed construction of a technologically advanced medium/heavy truck tire manufacturing facility in Indore, India. The plant is producing one million TBR units annually with the capacity to produce four million units annually. The plant manufactures a comprehensive range of Ralson and Accelus brand commercial truck tires.
Today, Ralson Tire North America (RTNA) has a rapidly expanding distribution footprint in America. The company recently announced the opening of two distribution centers on the East Coast.
“We appreciate all of Jim’s efforts in successfully establishing Ralson in the highly important and intensely competitive US commercial tire market,” said Manjul Pahwa, managing director and CEO of Ralson Tyres Ltd. “We are honored that he capped his 44-year career in the industry with Ralson and wish him all the very best in his retirement.”
For more than 50 years and four generations of the Pahwa family, Ralson has been manufacturing high quality tires. The company started its journey in 1974 with the production of bicycle tires. Today, Ralson supplies tires to more than 70 countries through the committed efforts of 8,000 employees.
Mayfield began his tire industry career on May 4, 1981, when he was picked up at a hotel in Lake Success, NY, to attend the Michelin training school. His first assignment was territory sales manager for Michelin in southwest Florida. His illustrious career included various management positions at several tire manufacturers and a major distributor.
“Linda and I have experienced 14 moves to different cities during our 44-year career,” Mayfield said. “We have been able to see most of the US and have made friends with wonderful people in the tire industry and in the communities we’ve lived. Helping establish Ralson in the US market was a great way to finish my career, and I feel very confident about Ralson’s future here, given their aggressive commitment to this market.”
